THANK YOU!

We would like to take a moment to thank all the players, parents, coaches, umpires, field maintenance crew, sponsors, and other volunteers who continue to help improve BYB each year!

Sometime in the next month, you will receive a survey asking you to evaluate the 2021 BYB program.  Please take the time to complete it as it is critical information in our efforts to continually improve the program.

Thank you everyone for a wonderful 2021 youth baseball season!  As always, should you have any input for our board of directors please send it to:  bulldogyouthbaseball@gmail.com

Thanks,

Bulldog Youth Baseball Board of Directors

About Bulldog Youth Baseball

Bulldog Youth Baseball was established in 2010 to create a positive environment in which kids will be taught the fundamentals of baseball while learning how to become exceptional people.

Mission Statement:  Bulldog Youth Baseball Association’s mission is to provide the youth of Plainview, Elgin, and Millville communities the opportunity to play baseball.  Through exemplary leadership; promote the qualities of integrity, discipline, and sportsmanship while teaching, developing, and improving the basic fundamentals of baseball in a fun, learning environment.

Winona County League

PEM kids will play in the Winona County Little League (8U, 10U, 12U & 14U).  This league has other area towns in it that we will travel to (and they will travel here).  Some of them may include: Dover-Eyota, St. Charles, Chatfield, Lewiston, Altura, Rollingstone, Minnesota City, Goodview, and Ridgeway.  This league sets the schedule and the nights that games are played.  Typically, practices/games are held on the following nights, but there may be slight changes depending on field availability.  Game times are typically around 6:30 pm.  We expect the first games to be the week of May 31st and the last games the end of July.

8U - Tuesdays & Thursdays

10U - Mondays & Thursdays

12U - Wednesdays & Fridays

13U - Tuesdays & Thursdays

14U - Tuesdays & Fridays

13U will again be participating in the Stewartville league against other 7th graders only.  They will play double headers, first game will count for league standings.  Games are tentatively set for Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6 pm.  Other teams include Stewartville, Byron, K-M, Cannon Falls, and Z-M.

Junior Legion

Bulldog Youth Baseball is offering a new program, Junior Legion, that replaces Senior Babe Ruth.  Games will be played in the evenings.  Junior Legion is made up of primarily 9th and 10th graders, occasionally some 8th graders.  Games could be 2 nights per week.  Schedule and details will be released in May.

JUNIOR LEGION:

  • Current 9th -10th graders (and potentially some 8th graders) are eligible to participate (NOTE:  This really isn’t an AGE thing…)
  • Games are at Eckstein (when we are at home), otherwise we play on the varsity field of the opposing team.
  • Game times are ??, with double headers played each time
  • We are potentially going to hold a practice once a week (say Wednesday’s) at a time to be determined(preferably in the morning).

NOTES TO PARENTS:

  • In the interest of financing, parents are being asked if they could provide their own gray pants for this league (it could be the same ones that your son used for other leagues of BYB)
  • Cost for this league is different from other BYB leagues, as of now, BYB will be charging $125.

Bulldog Youth Baseball Update - 5/22/20

Hello BYB Parents/Athletes/Umpires,

It is with extreme sadness that the Bulldog Youth Baseball Board has decided to cancel the 2020 summer season.  It was an extremely difficult decision and our hearts weigh heavy for our kids, but the restrictions and liability would make baseball extremely difficult and challenging.

Please be patient as we work through refunds in the next few weeks.  If you feel so inclined and would like to donate your child's registration fee, please let us know ASAP.  With the quiet summer ahead, we are planning to do some field improvements and would use these funds directly toward improving the Bulldog Youth Baseball facilities.

Umpires - I know a lot of you were looking forward to an awesome summer job/opportunity to help us as umpires.  We truly appreciate your enthusiasm and dedication to help our youth program and this sport grow!

Thank you very much to everyone for having hope and optimism as this process continues to unfold.  We look forward to seeing you all at sign-ups again next season!  Stay healthy and stay safe everyone.
